Drum and Bass Arena
A Look inside the arena
About us
Established in 1996, Drum & Bass Arena is the leading global music and entertainment brand for fans of drum & bass and jungle music.
Drum & Bass Arena’s origin can be traced to the Drum & Bass Arena web site, which was created in 1996 by Sheffield-based Drum & Bass enthusiast James Cotterill (The Risky). In 1998, he teamed up with Del Dias (ddias) to further develop the site as a serious concern. World famous art directors The Designers Republic were brought in to create the distinctive yellow and black identity and logo. Since then the business has been extended into events and tours, TV-advertised compilation albums, merchandise, digital distribution and various other brand extensions. Indeed Ministry of Sound recently described Drum & Bass Arena as the “Ministry of Drum & Bass”.
Notable achievements over the last 11 years include:
- Best selling Drum & Bass Compilation series (2004 released reached No.3 in UK compilation charts) with over 300,000 units shipped to date.
- No.1 Music Podcast on iTunes (2006)
- Winner 'Best Music Business Website' (Music Week Creative and Design Awards 1999)
The site and brand is owned by Art Empire Industries Ltd, a London based digital media company. The site attracts over 1 million users per month, and is currently undergoing a major design and functionality revamp.
Drum & Bass Arena’s offices are based in the Shoreditch region of London, near Old Street. The company employs around 20 people.
